pets and their pampered owners

containment during storms, etc...

Some of my cats are no longer allowed in the house. When they get bored with the backyard or need to come in occasionally for some reason, like spraying, storms, etc… I needed a way to contain them. My friends, John and Elease helped me design and build my cat cage. I couldn’t figure out how to do the corners. None of the building supply stores had what I needed for 90 degree angles. John suggested 45 degree angles and here it is! It took two days to build, but has been well worth it. John helped measure and cut the pieces and put together the frame; I wrapped it.

Tiger and Shadow have spent a lot of time in it. Tiger especially. They have plenty of room and all they need to pass the time; Food, litter, a place to sleep, some catnip on a scratch pad. This has freed me up tremendously from cleaning up after them and trying to keep tabs on them. I cut my cleaning by 90 percent. Seriously.

You should not take on the responsibility of a pet and then dump them on someone else.  It happens all the time. It is wrong, but it happens. So I will be the responsible one and take care of them. Monthly treatments, vet bills, food, you do the math. Are there added rewards in the afterlife for doing the right thing by the pets? I sincerely hope so, but probably not.  But honestly, they are smarter, more intuitive and more fun than most people I know. They have discovered secrets to living that many people have not yet discovered.

I have no qualms about caging them occasionally. They are safe, healthy, happy, and cared for. And now, I’m a lot more pampered myself!

Silver has kittens!

Yes, Silver had kittens. My neighbor called me and told me Silver came through her hedges with four kittens following along behind. She said one was orange stripe, one was black, one looked like Silver and she couldn’t remember the other one. I have only seen the black one, and only one time.

Silver hissed at me, which she has never done. It was because her kitten was around the corner of the house. I looked and the kitten ran for the vacant lot behind me. It was so little and so fast.

Lots of vacant lots in the area where the wild cats live. And it seems Silver has kept her babies hidden well enough that they are definitely going to be little wild cats. I’ll never get my hands on one of them now.

When they start coming out, if they do, I’ll get pictures!

Yes, I have been feeding Silver better than my own cats. She’s out there in freezing temps with babies! I put soft food out for the babies, but Silver loves it. She waits for the good stuff. Cats are so cool; nothing but the best for them. Take a lesson – never let anyone take the best from you. You own and deserve the best, too!

Shadow has been acting out because he knows there is yet another rival for my affection.
Tiger has been on his best behavior. He gets blamed for things he didn’t do sometimes.
Jellybean is still the coolest cat in the whole world. He has a little bumper sticker that reads, “Life is Good, just ask me!”
Patch was asking for special food this morning, leading me to the kitchen; she sounded like Eric Cartman on South Park who is spoiled and in total control of his mother. “Ma – Ma – come give me some of that special food, Ma.” She asks, the others demand. If I don’t respond to her, she goes about her business. Not so with Shadow. He will jump on things, chew on things, do anything, until you deliver. Tiger will back up to your nearest favorite object and spray it, saying, “Take that! See what ignoring me will get you!” Jellybean wraps himself around your feet. Or turns around and lets you read his bumper sticker.

Congratulations Silver on being the purrfect Meowmy! Stay warm and well!

Silver Fox

Here are the pictures of Silver Fox that I promised.

I had not seen her in a day or two so she was really hungry today. So hungry I was almost able to touch her.  I’ve never been able to touch her, but now that she has started coming back around, I can get closer. Not sure why. She is either really hungry or more trusting.

When Jellybean showed up in the neighborhood, Silver stopped coming around. One morning, early in the a.m., like really early, dawn, I was in the driveway getting ready to drive to the coast, and she was sitting almost in the street in the morning mist, just starring at me. It was so cool. I had been worried about her. Even then I didn’t see her for a while, but now I am seeing her pretty regularly again. I know she has ticks. Jellybean had tons of ticks when he lived in the vacant lot. I’d love to pet Silver. I think she is a she. She is so skinny. I think she may have had kittens, but how would I know??? I really wouldn’t know. She could be a he.

Didn’t I tell you those eyes were baby blue!

Introductory Post

Patch, Tiger, Shadow and Jellybean!

This is Patch. She has golden eyes and loves to flirt. Here she is flirting with me.

This is Shadow, saying, Look, I can stretch across the whole door and you have to pay the toll if you want to get by.

This is Tiger – a real photo that I made into art.  It captures Tiger’s essence.

Tiger is in the doghouse All the time. He’s a regular Dennis the Menace.

This is Jellybean looking innocent, like he is NOT sneaking up on Tiger.

oops. Thought that was Tiger.

Jellybean is showing off his porky, I mean portly, little bod here. I’ve never had a cat so fat! Or so cute.

I thought Shadow was a beautiful cat, but Hello Jellybean! He’s sweet, too.

What’s cuter than that? Well, besides me.

Now you have met all the cats who reside at this address.

Silver Fox comes through for dinner most days. I’ll get her picture soon. She has baby blues!

That big tiger cat that comes by to eat, I don’t have a name for him. You know what happens when you name them.

Until next time!

Patch, Tiger, Shadow, Jellybean and Meowmy.
